Manchester Orchestra WINS International Contest!

As always, preselections, as seen on this blog, select songs to compete in The Countdown International, where individual songs, one from each nation, entered by nations from all over the world compete.

This October's competition had 54 songs, competing, and the Manchester Orchestra song "Virgin" , as entered by the US, captured the top score decisively with a score of 206 against the next highest score at 141.  If anyone thought that The Countdown was only about pop songs, this victory, if nothing else, should prove that wrong, showing how The Countdown is open to excellent music of all styles, including, but not limited to pop, and isn't just a narrow 'scene.'

Big thanks to everyone in the international competition who voted for the song, and of course, thanks to everyone who participated in the US preselections to select the song in the first place.

Complete results of the Countdown international competition can be viewed in three ways.

1.  Results on the Scorewiz, presented dynamically showing each nation's votes as they came in.

2.  A simple list of score results.

3.  A full voting grid showing which nations voted for which songs.
