US aviation: the Cessna 172. A
small, unspectacular and likely familiar aircraft, the Cessna 172 is
not extraordinary for its high performance. The Cessna 172 has however
earned a place in history, and been a part of so many events because of
its dependability, utility and excellent handling. As a result, when
other planes have come and gone, the humble Cessna remains. When
someone needs a dependable small plane for most any task, the Cessna has
been there, and the Cessna has thus continued in production since 1955,
even to the current day, and the Cessna is now the most produced
airplane of any type in the world, with more than 43,000 delivered. If
you have ever taken a flight there is an excellent chance that your
pilot started on the Cessna 172.
